According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), customers have the right to dispute incomplete or incorrect information on their credit report.
In America, we have three general credit bureaus – Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. These three credit bureaus help to mail-in disputes and offer an online process of it. You must make sure that you include your name, address and a copy of the credit report listing the inaccuracies and any supporting material such as the account records, statements and you will see that the lender correspondence in the dispute letter when the process is running.
These credit reports also include the information needed to contact the creditors directly by phone or in writing. If a creditor acknowledges that the information shared on the credit report was incorrect, try to get it in writing. You must preserve all the paperwork. If a creditor continues to report on the inaccurate information, you can send copies of it to the bureaus to remove the inaccuracy.
If you find that, the accounts are missing from one or more credit reports it may have a simple cause like change in the name. Keep in mind, whatever may be the reason the creditors need not report the information to all or even to any of the bureaus. This will help you to apply for an auto loan direct easily and without hassles.
